On a lark, I pulled into a car dealership in Merritt Island, Florida, and applied for a job selling cars (cars had long been a passion of mine). That was in October of 1999, and I told the manager that interviewed me that I was willing to give it a try if there was a position open, so long as they would understand that it was just a trial for me.
